Learn how to grow mushrooms! This class is taught by Christopher Vinci, founder and President of the University of Colorado Mycological Society here in Colorado Springs. He is a frequent workshop teacher for UCCS and regularly collaborates with the Pikes Peak Mycological Society on reaching the public through education and community events. Chris also has a local mushroom cultivation company, which helps individuals grow their own gourmet, medicinal and psilocybin mushrooms at home. We carry some of their products at Rick's Garden Center!

You will leave the course with the following things: Informational direction and inoculation of your own grow bag. (Participants will be able to choose between gourmet, medicinal, or psilocybin mushroom strains to grow in an all-in-one bag set up. These bags contain sterilized grain and a nutrient-rich substrate layered together, allowing the entire cultivation process to happen inside a single sealed system.) Knowledge on the basics of mushroom biology and the fungal life cycle. Instructions to maintain proper conditions (moisture, temperature, and airflow) for successful growth. Tips for spotting healthy growth vs. contamination. Directions to harvest, store, and use your mushrooms safely and effectively. Finally, you will also recieve a coupon for future growing supplies.
